Greaseball
02:54
|
|||
I am unsteady
A lonely wind blowing through like a salesmen
Just another lover, an Indian summer
that's trying to shut the door on the past
With you
cause you used to call me a greaseball
but you'd call me all the time
and I miss the emptiness, double Windsor tied around my neck
kept me warm when I was alone
I am not ready
but showing up bells on in a tail spin
i gotta let the seams in, so what it seems is
I got it pulled together right
Cause I
used to be peaceful
back when we had the time
now I kiss emptiness
waiting for me on the other side
thinking maybe, we'll align this time
the smile, the hair, the feeling we could go anywhere
the case can fill with memories or money
and no one seems to know
that one'll have to go

Ready When You Are
02:14
|

Well I came down from the mountain
I was tired of getting high
had no robe of saffron
just had too much on my mind
So I thought I'd get poetic
new aesthetic in the woods
but ended up all fed up
with my woulda coulda shoulds
so I swam out in the fountain
in Washington Square Park
in front of all the tourists
I stayed til it got dark
and grabbed a couple pennies
and held 'em to my eyes
pressed hard until they fireworked
across the sky
and I think of all the futures
that I never tired to see
wonder what they could be?
oh well,
I shoulda never ever ever ever ever ever left it to me
la da da da, la da da da da da da
shouldn't have left it to me
la da da da da da
yeah but that's on me
la da da da, da da da da
shouldn't have left it to me
la da da da da da
play me out on the river Styx
caused I've had a good run
and my timing is ticking away
Looking over his shoulder
letting me know it's over
nothing left to do but hold my breath and think of you
and wait for water to sing me the blues, aw jeez
You can go whenever ever ever ever ever ever ever ya please
la da da da, la da da da da da da da
go whenever ya please
la da da da da da
yeah it'll happen to me
la da da da da da da da
you just wait and you see
la da da da da da da da da da

Watch The Credits Roll
03:18
|

You
You watch me walk away
watch me walk away with nothing
and nothing to say
You
You just send me on my way
right out into the day
so I go and find some shade
and write this song
and slip it underneath your bedroom door
let it leak out onto the floor
And all of the giving that I did,
was too heavy for this kid
I shoulda run away and hid
but I thought I knew what it was worth
so I swallowed all the hurt
hid my heart under my shirt
I guess I was scared so I went and copped and easy lie
once you start you barely have to try
I felt the fear welling up
overflowing in my cup, a travesty
is headed straight for for me
But I know what I did, I understand
was weaving in and out again
a tapestry of self-indulgent immaturity
and to think I had it all figured out
I've known myself my whole life
but dunno what I'm about
cause I always, always, build my wings on the way down
trouble is, one day we all hit the ground
And now I watch the credits roll
and everyone gets up to go
but not me
I like to wait til I'm the last one in the row
sitting here all alone
feet sticking to the floor
just one more minute please
so I can see
if there's a secret at the end of the movie

Shades of Warhol
02:45
|
|||
I wish I was strange
with all my colors rearranged
somehow it's simple
to understand it all
when my world's in shades of Warhol
and I haven't given up the hope
that one day you and I will kaleidoscope
Cause I bet you'd like
the way it feels
to watch the sky spin
like a rainbow pinwheel
and I swear it's simple to understand it all
when your world's in shades of Warhol
and I haven't given up the hope
that one day you and I will kaleidoscope

Dandelion
03:14
|
|||
If you wanna go we'll take it slow
and see how we get by
but if you want it hot it's what I got
in the summertime
and if it seems like a dream
that you wanna reach out and touch
I'll let you love it as you like it
and I like it, very much
uh huh mama, I like it very much
If you were my dandelion
your thoughts wouldn't blow
so many ways
I seen your mind, one of a kind
and it should stay in place
or scatter on across the lawn
just to see where the pieces land
it's kinda fun when it's done without first making plans
I'll be your devil if you got idle hands
So open your eyes
slow sunrise
keeping your love wrapped up
in a disguise
never know when a passerby
may just see a little apple in your eye
outta time, to count the chances you left
coolin on the sill nothings whatcha gonna get
by the handfulls, yer a damn fool
ya eating macaroni blew ya money
on some fancy candles
but all the same, brings a moth to the flame

Please don't step on my rainbow
It's only staying for a while
And it won't be too long
Until the day is on the run
And night time will shutter its smile
Please don't cough in my doorway
Go if you're going, stay if you're staying
And if you'd be so kind to lend me money for some wine
Then you won't have to catch your train
Please don't step on my rainbow
It's only staying for an hour
And if the price of gin can make your money look too thin
It's only 'cause this government's in power
oh please don't talk on my phone now
It seems silly but it's true
That if you wear a heart which is political or art
Then they might like to question you
Please don't step on my rainbow
It hardly ever comes around
And I may have a writ because I didn't sign for it
You know how people talk in a small town
Please don't step on my rainbow
It's only staying for a while
And it won't be too long until the day is on the run
And night time will shutter its smile
And night time will shutter its smile
And night time will shutter its smile

G Baby
03:14
|

Each time we meet
I wanna put it on repeat
put it on repeat
and tell me, if you want to
not because you ought to
I wanna see what you would do
Got no chance I'm told
of never growing up and getting old
so I hold your hand until I fold
up nice, like a flag
never thinking for a minute that
I might've wanted things I didn't have,
to gonna have to do
a coupla things while counting the rings out
of the life I grew
with you, my green
mystery queen
tryna stitch me up
when I'm bustin at the seams
Raising up an eyebrow
wondering just how
I lost it all along the way
but I know now, what I should've done
right from the start, I coulda played a part
I'll swim to you when they dip me in the dark
cause I, gonna have to take
just a little bit longer
gonna be a little bit late
gotta sit here, spin some honey
to take out the sting
and leave a little sweetness on the string
